May 1918. Chicago. Young Edward Mansen. Shortly before his Spanish influenza and transformation into a vampire. The place: Mansens' family house.
Edward is somehow sensing what's comming... it makes him confused, upset almost depressed. The picture is called "Carpe Diem" - a pawky name - Edward is not eager to live his life like "carpe diem" those times. Title meaning: [link] He has no idea what to do with his young life.
He is considering risky plan to enlist in the army during World War One. The world seems such a bad and annoying place for him - Edward's abilities to read minds are very weak in a human body, but they exist and make him feel uncomfortable among people - he can sense people's emotions somehow - like sudden words of fear, anger, hatred shouted out loud in his head ... This makes the times of the war even harder to endure.
Edward is willing to fight ... join the army ... fight... but - what for? - for his own peace of mind... He dreams of letting his temper lead him ... Let this war end... Let these voices in the head be silenced ... Lots of thoughts in his young heart. But - he is still in his home. So hard to abandon the family, the loving mother ...
Well - the changes will come ... Whether he wants them or not ...
Haunt him ... Find him ... Change him...
FOREVER.
Edward can sense it ...
